Mary Lou Van Der Steenstraten is 25 years old and studies at the Royal Art Academy in Holland.
MOSSLESS: What’s going on in this photo? What were you doing that day? MARY LOU VAN DER STEENSTRATEN: The day I took this picture I was in Ohio, visiting my brother, and it was my first day waking up very early in America.
ML: What’s your approach to shooting photos? MLVDS: I try to express myself by using photography. Sometimes trying to understand the world better. By photographing subjects thats keeping me busy. I choose subjects that can express how I feel.
ML: Who influences you the most? MLVDS: I dont really know. I look at pictures from others and that influences me of course. But I think what influences me most are things that happen or feelings I have in my personal life.
ML: What’s the best thing about studying in The Hague? MLVDS: That you can learn from other people and be with other artistic people. That inspires me. And most important living near the Sea.
